Make Your Life Better!

Question by RS8389: Need help answering this question: “Is gender in the mind, body, or both?”?
I’m being interviewed for this magazine and need to send in an answer within the hour. “Is gender all in the mind, all in the body, or both? Please explain your viewpoint on this.”
Please help cause I can’t think of anything that I particularly like enough to make it in print! Doesn’t need to be very long. Maybe a paragraph at the most. Thanks so much!! I’d really appreciate it!!

Honestly, I think it is in the body. You can always think you are one gender or another, but your real gender is your birth gender. You may think you are a female when you are a male, or vice versa, but no matter what, whether you got the surgery or not, you are still your birth gender. You cannot change that.

sex identity is in the mind

gendered biological traits are in the body

(I’ve always thought the sex/gender distinction was pedantic)

anyway, most intersex people identify either as male or female and no one questions it or insists that their “real” gender is their ambiguous anatomical birth gender, so obviously most people believe that gender is in the mind *sometimes*

really I think its both though, I don’t really believe in one unified maleness that all males take part in or one unified femaleness that all females take part in, there’s just an endless array of sexual types

Gender is in the BRAIN. ALL brains are female unless they are exposed to androgens at a specific time in fetuses development. It doesn’t matter what the body looks like, what the genitals look like, or what the genetic karyotype is. It all boils down to brain gender.

If the developing fetus has a male body, and the brain is exposed to androgens, you will have a normal male baby.

If the developing fetus has a male body and the brain is not exposed to androgens, you will have a female baby with a male body – a Transsexual female.

If the developing fetus has a female body, and the brain is exposed to androgens, you wlll have a male baby with a female body – a Transsexual male.

If the developing fetus has a female body, and the brain is not exposed to androgens, you will have a normal female baby.

Gender is in the mind, psychological. Sex is in the body, biological.
