For the WHO Health is a state of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity. Wellness is a similar term to health but usually refers to being physically and mentally sound or balanced.

Question by Atheist Intellect: What is the difference between a good religion and a bad religion?
It should be obvious that I think all religions are wrong. I don’t, however think that religion is bad in all respects. It can give people a moral base and give people direction in life. For the most part however, I believe that things that aren’t or can’t be proven should be set aside until proven. I believe that filling people’s heads with unprovable theories is generally a poor way to deal with problems.
What does everyone think makes a particular religion more worthy of being accepted in society than another?

Question by SC: What is the education requirement difference between a neuropsychologist and psychologist?
I was wondering, what is the difference between the education needed to become a neuropsychologist vs. a psychologist? I know there is obviously a difference, and I’d lie to know how much more education one needs to be a neuropsychologist. Are there more science-based classes that need to be taken? I want to be a neuropsychologist, but I don’t know how much more I would have to do in school. If it’s as much as a doctor, then I definately won’t. Thanks so much.

no, it’s the same as a psychologist (PhD or PsyD) but with specialized training in neuropsychology. if you can find a PhD program in neuropsychology, so much the better. otherwise a post doctoral fellowship with a neuropsychologist supervising will suffice. good luck!

in grad school, if you are in a regular clinical (i.e. not a neuropsych) program, you may want to focus more classes in neuroanatomy, physiology, etc. rather than the classes oriented more toward counseling.

Question by : Whats the difference between this board and the Mental Health Board?
I always thought the mental health board and the psychology board were very similar. What topics are discussed here that make it different from the mental health board?

Best answer:

Answer by senlin
You get a broader range of questions on the Psychology board. For example, questions about operant and classical conditioning, experimental design, training in psychology, etc. I think on the mental health board you get more questions about specific mental health problems and difficulties and less on theory. And you get a lot of folks asking psychology homework questions here, lol.

Question by bushmechanic: What is the difference between learning disability and mental health problem?
I want to study mental health at university but my friends think leaning disability is better, what are advantages of studying mental health?

Best answer:

Answer by Rosiekins
Learning disability is a branch of mental health in general. I’d go with Mental Health if it were me. Learning disabilities can be studied further in the field once taken in the general direction. If you choose just learning disabilities then you are focused mainly on a certain part of the brain rather than the entire brain function. I think it really boils down to what you want to do professionally o_o

Question by : What is the difference between formal religion and personal beliefs?
Everyone has a belief, code of conduct, or some form of guide lines for their life. Whether it be you reflecting society’s beliefs or following a doctrine of your religion, everyone beliefs in something. Yet in terms of formal religion and personal beliefs how are they similar…how are they different?

Religion, the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices, is often referred to as those who are not religious as almost a form of bondage, restricted to the expectations and practices of the church. Although some people involved in a specific religion complain about the rules and difficulty in following their religion, religion is a choice. Furthermore the decision as “which religion’ is also a choice. Formal religion is definately more strict than personal beliefs as, for the most part, a specific doctrine is followed while personal beliefs more pertain to the individual beliefs and values of a person. Yet these two are similar in that they are both personal choices…following a religion or not…which religion to follow….The choice is up to you, but life with no God and no faith in anything but yourself is not much of a life at all.
