Question by Lisa: What kind of degree is required in Michigan to teach Special Education?
I am seriously considering getting a degree in Special Education. I am googling, but I can’t seem to find a straight-forward answer on what type of degree is required to teach special education in Michigan. Is it a bachelor’s degree? A Masters? Does anyone know what the requirements are in Michigan?

Thank you!

Question by :: kitty ::: What kind of exercise will help make my period shorter and end quicker?
They say exercise can make your period shorter…I got mine at the worst time today and need it gone in a couple of days. What KIND of exercise can I do to make it lighter/end faster??

To be honest I don’t think that is possible. I used to think that too, if I exercised while on my period it would end sooner. Female athlete’s or just athletic women experience shorter periods because of their daily physical activities and metabolism I think. However, in most cases with women who have a higher estrogen level their periods last anywhere from 5 to 10 days. Studies show our periods should only last 2 or 3 days.

Question by Ciarra L: What kind of degree do I need to teach early childhood education college courses?
I’m currently in school now, going for my BA in early childhood education. But I’m also interested in becoming a college professor and teaching early childhood education courses to college and/or university students. I’m a little confused on what degree I’ll need to do this (specifically the title of the degree). Do I just need an MA in early childhood education? Or would I need something else as well? Maybe someone can clear up my confusion. Thanks in advance.

Check with your college advisor.

Check the state requirements in the state in which you live.

Google: Professor education requirements.

Usually a professor is required to have a doctorate and so many hours in their specilization.

GOOD LUCK!

Question by Dawn: What kind of careers are available to those with an associate’s degree in mental health?
I’m planning on getting a bachelor’s in psychology, and from there I’d like to go into graduate school, and eventually become a licensed therapist. But because I have been told there are very few options for those with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, I’m considering the associate’s in mental health first, which will hopefully lead to a job that’ll get me through the rest of school. The problem is, I can’t find any information on what I can do with this degree, if I do go through with it. Does anybody out there have any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is maybe a “psych tech.” At some risk of oversimplification, these people work in mental health facilities basically doing the same for mental health as nursing aides do in nursing homes. Unless you have a graduate degree in psychology, social work or education, there are few opportunities in the mental health/chemical dependency fields. Furthermore and unfortunately, urban and suburban areas have an oversupply of therapists. This means that good jobs are difficult to find and insurance reimbursements are remaining the same or slowly falling. If this field is your calling, then by all means proceed. If you are just searching, consider other alternatives.

Question by charlie6385: What kind of exercise does swimming do for you?
I’m considering swimming every other night for outdoor exercise. But at the moment, I want to lose weight, not gain muscle. Is swimming the best exercise for me? And what does it help with? Thanks.

I have to swim because I have Arthritis. In fact I go Aqua Jogging and was told last week that I have good muscle mass? I am 5 foot 3 inches, weigh 55 kilo, have lost weight but do not see any muscle mass? I see weight loss, agree to that and a lot of weight loss, but no muscle mass?
Swimming means you are exercising in water, so almost weight less therefore less strain on joints and freer movement. I find I can move better in the water than on dry land, in fact last week I wanted to stay in the Pool for the rest of my life. Likewise swimming helps with the cardio vascular system, breathing, increase heart rate and it is exhausting. Others in my group are attending to loose weight and they are loosing it without adding any muscle that I can see.

Question by The Phantom: What kind of education is needed to be a foreign missionary doctor?
I always have been interested in the medical field and I am planning to be a missionary. I was wondering what kind of education should I need if I were to help people out in public. In another way, what kind of education would you need to be a clinical doctor like when you get a checkup or when your sick with the flu.

Answer by Nurse For 20 Years
You would need to go through medical school like any other doctor, which takes anywhere from 12-16 years depending on your specialty.
After you have your license to practice medicine, your best bet would be to check into working with an organization such as the Peace Corps or Doctors Without Borders.
Best of luck to you.
