What is an international public health degree? What are some jobs associated with this degree?

Answer by lefse2991
I’ve been trying to figure out more information on this subject as well. From what I’ve found I know that International public health deals with the general health and prevention/treatment of general populations mainly in underdeveloped countries. Whereas clinical health professionals deal with diagnosing and treating an individual who is sick (i.e. a doctor), international public health professionals work to determine how to advance the health of entire populations and prevent disease/epidemics. It’s a pretty broad discipline. You can work as an epidemiologist overseas, a health educator, a health policy advisor, a nutritionist or you could even go into the legal side of things and become a lawyer specializing in international health issues. There are lots and lots of other things you can do with an international public health degree.

For most positions you need a Masters degree such as a Masters of Public Health (MPH) or a Masters of Science in Public Health (MSPH). You can also get a Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) or a PhD in Public Health (for a more research oriented career). I would recommend the below website for more in depth information on all aspects of public health.

Question by ☼ Flor: What are some home remedies to fade a pimple scar?
I don’t mean horrible acne scars.. I got a rather large pimple a week ago, it’s going away but its kind of like light purplish reddish and I just want it to fade.
Are there any good home remedies that would help the fading process?

Best answer:

Answer by janejane
I don’t know about home remedies. My surgeon recommended poking a Vitamin E capsule with a needle and squeezing the liquid on the scar. They’re now so faded I can’t even find them. Another surgeon recommended Nivea cream. That one worked as well.

Question by Daniel: What are some examples of how mental health and physical health are interconnected?
Sometimes people talk about the so-called “mind-body connection”, in which the mind and physical body are realted to each other and affected by each other. Can you give some examples of this connection? I heard that it’s better to take a more “holisitc” approach to health, to look at many different aspects at once. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Question by ColbyGurl: What are some education issues our nation is facing?
I am writing an essay about some education issues our nation is facing, but I can’t seem to find any information on the topic. I am focusing on the unfair education system, which includes that students who attend wealthier schools receive a better education than students who attend poorer schools. Since they have more resources available, etc. Any ideas where I can find some information?

Egg Yolk, brush it on your skin and let it dry and then wash it off. Works okay and does take awhile to see results. I had bad acne as a teen and then when I had my children I had acne badly through pregnancy and my skin was all spotty and the scar marks were brownish in color. I started with the egg yolk as I found that in an article in one of my magazines but I wanted something a bit more effective. I used this botanical-based cream day and night and it erased them within 2 months! My skin looks fabulous! We went to Florida in June and I got a bad sunburn and had these sunspots all over my hands and shoulder so I put this on them and they went away within days! The bottle is about half empty and I have had it for about 8 months. It repairs damage to the skin. https://itworksfit.myitworks.com/Shop/Product/435

do you have dry med or oily skin? im not really sure what works, but i break out when im stressed. sometimes i put rubbing alcahol on each one. sometimes after school i put vasaline over my whole face an let it dry then put more on b4 bed. i heard a rubbing an ice cube gently on a pimple till its numb then with a cue-tip put honey on it an let it dry. after 10 min wash it off with warm water or rub it off gently with a kleenex. i also witch hazel sometimes. or salt water. there is also the toothpast idea, i have never tried it.

Question by Linda k: Who pays for mental health treatment? What are some of the issues surrounding financing of mental health care?
Who pays for mental health treatment? What are some of the issues surrounding financing of mental health care?

Best answer:

Answer by xena
Well, if your health insurance covers it, they pay for most of it, depending on your policy. Otherwise you pay for it. Unless you’re on medicaid.

I think alot of people that need mental health care don’t get it because they can’t afford it. That’s a sad thing.

Question by earthling: What are some natural remedies and diet tips for my cat’s kidney disease?
My cat, 6 yrs old, could possibly have kidney failure (it might be a bladder infection but I won’t find out for another 2 weeks after antibiotics); he’s still energetic and doesn’t show any signs of illness. Ironically I have kidney disease as well and am using natural remedies like dandelion root tea and other herbs. Wheatgrass has also improved my health a lot. I am wondering these herbs would apply to cats as well?

Does anyone have any suggestions for diet (should it be homemade)? I’ve been doing research and they all say low salt, but some sites say good high quality protein while others say low protein. And should I stop using the chemical Frontline (flea medicine) on my cat?

Also, where on my cat are his kidneys located?

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Shamrock
First off…the kidneys are located just past the send of the rib cage on both sides…the right kidney is slightly closer to the front of the cat. Frontline Plus doesn’t go into the animals system, so it will have no effects on the kidneys…so don’t stop using it. I wouldn’t reccomend any “natural remedies” without consulting your vet…cats and people can very different recations to plants…and a lot of plats can be nephrotoxic (toxic to the kidneys) in cats!

A diet wont help kidney failure until bloodwork confirms Azotemia…this means the that BUN and CREATINIE are elevated. So unless this has been confirmed by your vet, changing the diet wont help. However, if Azotemia is confirmed, then a low protein/low phospherous diet is highly recomended. The protein that is in the kidney diets is a high quality one. Several brands make kidney diets…. Purina NF, Royal Canin/IVD modified….Hill’s K/D….. Royal Canin Renal LP….. However, they are by prescription only, so you have to get them from your vet. If you are interested in making your own diet, you can contact UC Davis, and for a small fee, they will formulate a diet you can cook at home specificaly for your cats needs….

I’m not sure why its going to take so long to confirm that your cat has kidney disease…a simple blood test should confirm if the kidney values are normal or not.

Good Luck!

Question by merris22u: What are some natural remedies for mental illnesses?
I need some “mind soothing” natural remedies. I just ordered some stuff actually called “mind soothe” but I was wondering if there is anyone who uses aroma therapy or anything else that is unusual and if it actually helps. In addition to medication. I am trying to take a little control myself in getting myself to feel better.

Best answer:

Answer by margie k
St. John’s Wort is a proven herbal antidepressant. Also you can try Valerian root, Passionflower, or Skullcap herbs. They are all relaxing and Valerian root has been proven to be “mind sooothing” as you put it. I wouldn’t be surprised that you find once you get that product it has one or more of these herbs in it. Another product that works but is on the expensive side is SAM-e, and if you can find it, tryptophan – although if you want natural tryptophan just eat turkey or drink red wine, or a glass of warmed milk. Gingko biloba helps you concentrate so may be good to add this as well. Just remember that you can’t mix the herbal products with a regular anti-depressant, it is one or the other, they interact against each other in your system.
